How To Call Into World Poetry Open Mic

The format of WPOM makes for a few interesting behind the scenes type challenges that don't normally show up in other radio shows. Therefore, we've had to come up with a few ways of doing things that will make everything flow much more easily.

Below, you will find some steps about how to call into our show. We truly hope you do. All of WPOM (including our weekly listeners) can't wait to hear from you.

---------------
1.)  Grab your poetry!

2.)  Click on the “Listen Live” link on the main page. Start Listening.

You can listen without signing up for Twitch (our broadcasting platform). However, if you want to engage with the other listeners in the chatroom, you'll need to create an account.

***To find out about how to get started with Twitch, watch the above video or click here.***

3.)  At the beginning and throughout the rest of our show, we will play music for approximately 5-8 minutes. This is a CALL IN segment. We are answering calls and filling up the lines with 5 callers at a time. Each caller is limited to one poem per call and can only call in once for the regular segments.

At the end of the night, we will have a "Return Engagement" segment, where anyone can call back in and fill up the lines as full as they can go.

We place all calls on hold and put them on air in the order that they are received.

Call us on Skype!
We encourage our callers to consider using Skype to make a free call to us. The sound is better and it's far easier than making a long distance call!

***For instructions on how to get started with Skype, see the above video or click here.***

4.)  Keep listening to the show via your internet connection while you wait. When you come on air, please turn down your speakers and only talk to us through the phone. (Otherwise, we get a strange echo sound that can cloud your words. We want to hear you clearly!)

5.)  We will bring you on the air and give you the time and encouragement you need to share your poetry with our listeners across the world.

6.)  That’s all! Make sure to continue listening to support your fellow poets after you are done. (Also, a podcast of the show is uploaded within 24 hours after the broadcast for you to enjoy and share with friends.)

P.S. If you happen to get our “voicemail” during the show, it means that either our lines are full or that you are calling when we can’t answer (which usually means there is someone reading on the air at the moment). Just hang up, keep listening, and call back in when we play the music again.

It’s really that simple! We look forward to hearing your poetry.
